Large, bushy, widely spreading deciduous shrub (H 1,5-2 m, W 1,5-2 m). Branches densely branched, thorny, dark grey-brown. Leaves broadly ovate (4-7 cm), with a serrate margin, smooth, glossy, dark green, underneath light green to light blue-green. Flowers cup-shaped (3-4 cm), snow white, with yellow anthers. Flowering period: March-May. Fruits ovate (4-6 cm), fleshy, green-yellow to yellow, scented, edible processed. Ripening time: September-October. These plants grow well in sun or in partial shade. Usually they tolerate more sun and heat if given enough moisture; in partial or light shade they need less moisture.
