Large, bushy, frost tolerant evergreen shrub, ornamental in fruit-plant (2-4 m, W 2-3 m). Leaves egg-shaped (4-8 cm), smooth, green, lighter beneath. Flowers star-shaped (1-2 cm), outside white, inside red. Flowering period: July-August. Fruits egg-shaped to ovate (10 cm), fleshy, juicy, edible raw, tasty. Ripening time: October-November. These plants grow well in sun or in partial shade. Usually they tolerate more sun and heat if given enough moisture; in partial or light shade they need less moisture.
Decidious have woody stems (i. e. tree trunk and branches) and are also called woody plants or trees. Leaves are normally broad, soft and thin.
