Velika, zmerno rastoča, listopadna vzpenjavka (V 5-10 m, Š 3-5 m, odvisno tudi od opore). Poganjki oleseneli, z oprijemalnimi koreninami se oprijemajo opore. Listi široko srčasti do široko ovalni (10-15 cm), po robu gosto, fino nazobčani, temno zeleni s temnejšimi žilami, na spodnji strani svetlejši; jeseni rumeni. Cvetovi v velikih ploščatih socvetjih (15-30 cm), ob robu socvetja veliki ovalni ovršni listi (do 4 cm), cvetovi roza-beli, drobni; dišeči, vonj jabolk in lilij. Cvetenje: julij-avgust. Uspeva v dobro odcednih, globokih, zmerno humoznih tleh, na soncu ali v polsenci.
These plants grow good in partial shade or shade undergrowth, they can tolerate some moderate sunlight as well.
Decidious have woody stems (i. e. tree trunk and branches) and are also called woody plants or trees. Leaves are normally broad, soft and thin.

Among grown ornamental plants there are numerous varieties with especially intense or diverse autumn colour than by the basic species.
