Moga is a family-owned company that was founded in 1992. In the first years of operation, our main activity was cutting down and pruning trees in the urban environment. We carried out many demanding restorations of old and damaged trees, then only with free climbing and the use of ladders.
The first pruning basket for trees was purchased in 2000. Today, thanks to experienced colleagues and modern equipment, we can carry out even the most demanding works, such as the demanding and risky cutting down of large trees (Douglas fir) at the Pobrežje Cemetery in Maribor.
Maintenance, pruning and landscaping of plantations on public facilities, lawns and parks were carried out in the first years of operation, first primarily for the Municipality of Maribor, and later for several other municipalities in northeastern Slovenia. Our first major planting was in Pobrežje in 1993, and we carried out the rehabilitation of the municipal waste landfill in Maribor.
In order to keep up with the demands of the job, we bought the first small TAM truck in 1994. In 1999, we bought the first larger ladder, as a trailer, a new small truck and the first branch crusher, and we also equipped ourselves for the winter service. We arranged and planted a lot of public lawns, we worked in castle parks and old tree-lined alleys, we arranged a forest learning pathway. Over the years, we have gained more and more experience and knowledge, which means more and more of our own design of plantings, planning, consulting, and garden landscaping.
Our company has grown slowly, but steadily and reliably, and over the years we have also hired new colleagues. At the beginning of our operations, we were without our own areas, so we invested a lot of funds in the purchase of real estate – land for storage and production of basic tree and shrub species.
Customer demand was increasing from year to year, so in autumn 2011 we opened our own garden centre for retail and wholesale. In 2015 we expanded the sales area and thus increased the offer of plants with outdoor decorative bonsai, Niwaki. Today, in a modern and spacious garden centre, we can offer probably the largest selection of outdoor ornamental plants in Slovenia, and our slogan, which we stick to from the very beginning of our operation – "If it must fall cruelly or grow gently", covers all segments of spatial planning. Over the years, as our company has grown, the sales program of the selection of plants and other necessary materials for horticultural landscaping has also expanded.
We could not have achieved all this without reliable, professionally trained, and successful colleagues, so we regularly invest in the education of our employees. We are equipped with new, modern equipment and work machines, and we are modernising our business with new computer ware and programs. Because we are small and flexible enough, we are also more responsive to changes in the market and have overcome the years of general crisis in the economy. Gradually, we have built a stable company, which is one of the most successful and best equipped in its industry and to a lesser extent it operates outside Slovenian borders as well.
In recent years, the company Moga has been led by the second generation, which brings new, fresh ideas. With our joint efforts and firm will, we will continue to work for a tidy and green living environment and wisely pursue the set goals.
