Description
Small, broad, slow growing deciduous tree (H 8-10 m, W 5-6 m). Crown broadly oval, regular. Bark snow-white, it peels off decoratively in small, narrow strips. Young shoots olive-green to yellow-brown. Branches upright to widely spreading, eventually slightly hanging. Leaves ovate to egg-shaped (4-7 cm), with narrowly pointed tip, with a slightly serrate margin, mid dark green, lighter underneath, autumn colour bright yellow. Flowers tiny, in hanging yellow-green inflorescence, catkins. Flowering period: April. Undemanding tree, adaptable to different soils, withstands occasional drought and urban conditoins.
