Description
Small, broad, upright deciduous fruit-tree (H 4-6 m, W 3-5 m), of medium to strong vigour. Leaves broadly ovate to broadly lanceolate (5-10 cm), glossy, mid green. Flowers simple, star-shaped (2,5 cm), white. Flowering period: April; good polinators for this variety are apricot (Prunus armeniaca cv.) and ornamental plum (Prunus cerasifera). Fruits round, large (3-4 cm), smooth, glossy, red, pink-red to dark violet-red, flesh red, very juicy, sweet to sweet-tart, tasty. Very good for fresh use. Ripening time: July-August. Attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Prunus dasycarpa oz. Prunus × dasycarpa is a cross between apricot and ornamental plum (Prunus armeniaca × P. cerasifera).
